Imagine that you are trying to make a decision. You gather all the information you can and then, you begin making a decision. Perhaps you think and think and think but you aren’t getting clarity. You may pray, “Lord give me wisdom.”
In the Old Testament, when Solomon was chosen as King of Israel, God asked Solomon what he wanted and God gave him wisdom.
The Bible says in Psalm 111:10,
“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever!”
So if we want wisdom, it begins with a fear of….a reverence for God. wand that is slipping in our day. Reverence for God means recognizing that God exists and worshiping Him. It means having respect for His word and His ways. It means praying through decisions as opposed to leaving God out of decision making.
A healthy fear of…respect for the Lord, is the foundation of wisdom.
