In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve disobeyed God by taking the fruit and sin came into the world. In order for man to be right with God, that sin has to be forgiven. So how does that happen?
In the Old Testament, there was an elaborate system that required the great High Priest to offer a sacrifice every year for the people. Every year, on the Day of Atonement, the great High Priest would go into the Holy of Holies and offer a sacrifice for the sins of the people.
But when God sent His Son into the world, that sacrifice was no longer needed. When Jesus died on the cross, he made a one-time sacrifice that took care of the sins of all mankind.
Hebrews says, “But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.”
So, in one offering, Jesus made it possible for everyone to be forgiven. Today, your sins can be forgiven because of Jesus death on the cross. Jesus loves you and will forgive you if you will ask.
