Years ago, I was playing softball on a church softball team. The team we were about to play had a player who had a high opinion of himself. As we were warming up one of our players referred to this guy and said, “If you could buy him for what he’s worth and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth, you could make some money.”
There are lots of people like that guy. They are cocky.
There is nothing wrong with having self-confidence; cockiness or arrogance is another thing.
Psalms 27:2 says, “Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth; a stranger, not your own lips.”
Jesus said we are to be humble. In the sermon-on-the-mount Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek.”
When someone is filled with arrogance, at times it’s because they want attention. But you don’t have to crave attention. You will experience peace and fulfillment through your relationship with the Lord.
