Have you ever felt like you had messed up so bad that you wondered if God even loves you? Maybe you felt totally abandoned by God? Well, God loves us and hasn’t abandoned us…regardless if we have messed up.

In Jeremiah 51, the Lord promises Israel and Judah that He has not abandoned them. Now remember that they have disobeyed God. They have worshipped idols. Yet, in spite of that, God tells them He has not forsaken them. The Lord says, “For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has not abandoned Israel and Judah. He is still their God, even though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.”

The Lord tells Israel, He has not abandoned them. He has not forsaken them…even though their land was filled with sin.

This verse is a reminder of the grace and love of. God. Paul said in Romans, “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Even though we are sinners…even though we have messed up, God has not abandoned us.

Today, let that truth comfort you. You may have made some mistakes… and, you may deal with the consequences of a mistake…but that doesn’t mean God has abandoned you. God loves us and will forgive us if we sill ask.

There is a story about a man who had lived a tough life. He was on his death-bed when a Minister came to see him. The Minister witnessed to him to try to lead him to trust Christ as his Savior.

The man said, “You mean to tell me that even though I’ve lived a sinful life, that I can have a death-bed repentance and all my sin are gone?”

The Minister replied, “No, I mean that on your death-bed you can ask Jesus for forgiveness and you will be forgiven.”

The same is true for us. Jesus has not abandoned us. He loves us…in spite of our mistakes.
