There is a children’s song that goes; “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.”
The song is referring to the sermon-on-mount where we are told to be the “light of the world.”
In the Bible, light is a metaphor for holiness.
In Psalm 98:11 the scripture says, “Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right.”
So, the Bible tells us that light shines on the Godly and that we are to be the light of the world. How does that happen?
As we live for Christ….as we love others…as the fruit of the spirit is evident in our lives, we are the light of the world. Our lives are marked by love and joy and peace. As we live for Christ, our speech is marked by encouragement.
We live in a world Of darkness. In this world of darkness, we are to be the light of the world.
