In the service waiting area at Krause Family Ford, where I work, there is a Zig Ziglar quote that is framed and sits on a piece of furniture. The quote is, “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.” And our attitude is largely shaped by our thoughts. For this reason, our thought life is critical.
In Isaiah 55:8 the Lord says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8 NASB).
Every day, our mind is filled with thoughts; some good and some bad. We need to monitor our thoughts regularly. We do this by being careful what goes into our minds. Think about what you watch on TV…what you listen to on your iPod or car radio…think about what you read.
Years ago, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones said that five years from now, we will be the same person we are now except for the books you read and the friends you have.” Make sure you guard your thoughts.
So, guard your attitude…it determines your altitude.
