One if the things we all hope and long for is a time when there is no bloodshed and man can get along with another. We all long for a day of peace. That time will come when the Lord returns.
In Isaiah 11, the prophet Isaiah speaks of a time when there will be peace in Israel. He says, “In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all.” These verses are a metaphor for a time of peace in Israel. “….the wolf and the lamb will lie together.” Think about that verse. In your mind, paint a picture of a wolf…an animal that attacks…lying down with a meek lamb. The verse describes a time of peace.
We badly need more love and understanding in our day. We long for a time when we can all sit down as brothers. We may experience periods where things are better but, we will not completely experience peace until the Lord returns and reigns. That is a hope that we long for.
The late Robert Schuller said, “Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.”
