Where do you go for advice? When you are making decisions, is there someone that you consider wise, that you talk to? We need to make sure that the people we go to for advice, or people that are able to provide wisdom.
In Isaiah 8:19, the prophet says to Israel, “…But shouldn’t people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?” Some in Israel were consulting mediums and spirits for direction. Isaiah asks, “… should the living seek guidance from the dead?”
That’s a good word for all of us. Who do you go to for advice and direction? Is it someone who is wise? Someone who has a good walk with the Lord? It should be. “The living” represents those who are alive in the Lord… those who draw life from the Lord. They are able to provide us with good guidance because they have life. Their life comes from the Lord.
What about you? To whom do you go to for advice?
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God.” Today, if you have a decision to make. If you need wisdom, ask the Lord.
When I was a Pastor, most of the time, before I made a big decision, I would talk with some people. Normally, it was people who were leaders of the church… people who had wisdom. People who were alive in the Lord.
Today, if you are making a decision, ask the Lord for wisdom and ask others for direction if the Lord leads.
