Dizzy Dean, the legendary pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals once said, “It ain’t bragging if you can back it up.” Dizzy was right still, we don’t need to over-do it with boasting. I have found that it’s best for a person’s work or accomplishments to speak for itself instead of bragging.
In II Corinthians 10 the apostle Paul said, “When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.”
Paul is saying that instead of boasting or bragging ourselves, we it’s best for the Lord to commend us.
You may have accomplished some things that are significant. But, your identity shouldn’t be wrapped up in what we have accomplished. It should be based on who we are and that is, a child of God.
I love this quote; “He who is humble is confident and wise. He who brags is insecure and lacking.”
Today, let the Lord commend you instead of commending yourself.
