Are We A Pleasing Aroma To God?

Fall is just around the corner! I LOVE the fall. I love the color and the smell of fall. One of the marks that fall is almost here is when I walk in our local Ingles store and the cinnamon-scented brooms are out near the entrance. That tells me fall is almost here. The cinnamon broom has a sweet aroma.

In II Corinthians 2 Paul said that our lives are like a fragrance rising up to Christ. Paul has in mind a victory parade for Roman military leaders who returned home after battle. Incense was burned as a sweet aroma. In the Old Testament an offering of a sweet aroma was made to God. So, Paul thinks about the aroma that was an offering to God and says that our lives are like a sweet aroma that is pleasing to God.

We all need to ask ourselves, “what does the fragrance of our lives smell like?” Is it a pleasing aroma or is it a foul smell? Our lives should be a pleasing aroma…a sweet fragrance to God.

What does the aroma or smell that is produced from our lives smell like?
