When the chips are down…when times are tough….who or what are you trusting in? For some, it’s their bank account. They have a fairly substantial nest-egg and feel like they can handle most anything. For others, it may be their friends. They feel like they can call on their friends anytime and they would get help.
But…what if those fail? What if the bank account is empty? What if our friends aren’t there?
Psalms 33:17 says, “Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victor for all its strength, it cannot save you.” The warhorse represented military might. Nations would have strong militaries to protect them against the enemy. But, David is saying they shouldn’t trust in the power of their military. Instead, David says “But the Lord watched over those who fear Him.”
Instead of trusting our bank account or our network, David says we should place our trust in the Lord.
There is an old hymn that goes;
“On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.”
