Discouragement is something everyone deals with from time-to-time. There’s a story that one day the devil was auctioning off his tools. He had a high price on them all: pride, laziness, arrogance, hate, envy, jealousy. But there was one tool with a sign under it: “Not For Sale.” It was a strange-looking tool about which someone asked, “What is that tool and why isn’t it for sale?”
“Well,” Satan whispered, “I can’t afford to get rid of that one! That’s my chief tool—discouragement. With this tool, I can pry open a heart, and once I’m there, I can do most anything I want.”
In Ezra 3, the Israelites dealt with discouragement. When the people of God began rebuilding the temple, the local residents tried to discourage & frighten the people to keep them from their work. But the tactic didn’t work and the temple was rebuilt.
Maybe you are facing discouragement. Maybe you are down and frustrated. You are thinking about throwing in the towel. Don’t do it. Satan can discourage us but, the Lord will encourage us.
Keep your head up and stay at your task. As the apostle said in Galatians 6:9, “In due time you shall reap if you do not grow weary.”
