Years ago, Rick Warren, a Pastor in California, write a best-selling book, “The Purpose-Driven Life.” In it, he explained that God has a purpose for us and we will only be happy finding and serving the purpose God has for us.
The apostle Paul is a great example of this.
In Acts 22, Paul is sharing his testimony and he says that when Ananias came to see him, he was healed from his blindness. Then Ananis said to Paul, “The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak.” (Acts 22:14)
God had chosen Paul to be a missionary to the Gentiles. Just as God chose Paul and gave him a task, He has chosen us as well. God has a mission – a purpose for each of us. For some that may be teaching. For others it may be preaching. For others it may be working with preschoolers or children or youth. For some, maybe it’s being a prayer warrior. For others, maybe it’s making cookies to hand out to guests at church. God has a plan for all of us.
Our happiness or sense of fulfillment will be directly connected to our knowing our purpose.
God wants all of us to serve in some capacity. So what are you doing for the Lord? How are you serving? God has a task for each of us. We need to serve and accomplish the purpose God has for us.
