Don’t Hang On To Bitterness

It is inevitable that there will be misunderstandings among people. But how are those misunderstandings handled?

Most people don’t like conflict so our tendency is to avoid it. We may think that an issue will work itself out. But that’s normally not true. Things work out because we work them out.

Jesus said if there is an issue between us and someone else, we should sit down with that person and work it out. Jesus also said if the person will not forgive us, we should wipe the dust off our feet and move on.

Proverbs 17:9 says, “Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.”

Notice the verse says “Love prospers when a fault is forgiven.” On the other hand, hard feelings develop when a fault is not forgiven.

Maybe there is conflict between you and someone else. Perhaps it’s been there for some time. Why not go and talk with that person. At least do your part. If you have already tried then you have done everything you can.

Holding a grudge is not good. Either forgive and move on or grant forgiveness and move on. It does us no good to hang on to it.
