In January 2019, I lost a job. I was concerned about my future. Our money was tight and I had no job. During that time, I sensed the Lord saying that I needed to live by faith. I had three part-time jobs; I was a wedding officiant, I was a substitute teacher and I worked part-time at DXL a men’s clothing store. I wanted one, full-time job but it didn’t come. But, throughout that year, through a series of events, God provided. God helped us.
Where does your help come from? When the chips are down and times are tough, where do you turn for help?
The Psalmist turned to God. In Psalm 121, the Psalmist says, “I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!”
What about you? Where do you turn for help? Some, turn to their bank account… but what if it is low or empty? Some turn to their network of friends or maybe their family. But what if they can’t do anything?
The only true and reliable source for help is the Lord. Everything and everyone else can and will let you down but the Lord doesn’t.
Let me go back to our situation. That time lasted a year for us. During that time, the Lord pieced together income for me. We drove and still drive, two old cars… we didn’t take a vacation… but we made it. The Lord provided.
The Psalmist goes on to say… “He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel
never slumbers or sleeps.”
I encourage you to turn to the Lord for help.
