Enjoying An Abundant Life Through Jesus

Everyone wants to live a life of satisfaction. Everyone wants to experience meaning and happiness. But how does that happen?
Well, since the beginning of time man has been in search of meaning. And for many, our quest for happiness and meaning leads to a religious faith. We practice the tenets of our faith believing that in doing so, we will find peace.
Just recently, I met a man who is Muslim. He was fasting every day because of his faith. He wasn’t doing it but because he just wanted to fast; he was doing it because he believes it will give him meaning in life.
There are lots of world religions. There is Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Mormonism, The Church of Scientology and others. And each faith teaches that it will give its followers happiness.
For Christians, we believe if we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, that will give us meaning and satisfaction. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
How does living the Christian life give us meaning and happiness? First, when we trust Christ as Savior, our hearts are changed. And when our hearts are changed, our values change. Living for Christ means helping others. It means being satisfied through serving others. Jesus told us not to worry about what we will wear or eat. So, when our hearts are changed, clothing doesn’t matter. We learn to enjoy a simpler life.
So, question for you today; Are you happy? Does your life have meaning and satisfaction? If not, it can have meaning. Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life and have it abundantly.” We can enjoy an abundant life when we are living for Christ.
