Stop Throwing Stones And Love More

In John 8, there is a story about an immoral woman being brought to Jesus. If you have a study Bible, there may be some notes before that verse that says that story is not in the best manuscripts of John. Ok, that may be true but the story deals with a subject that Jesus talked about in other places in the gospels and it teaches a lesson we all need to be reminded of.
The story that a lady who was caught in the act of adultery was brought to Jesus. I’ve always wondered how she was caught in the act of adultery but… we won’t go there. The religious leaders brought her to Jesus.
They told Jesus that this woman had been caught in the very act of adultery. Then they told Jesus that the law required she be stoned! So they waited for Jesus to respond, but He said nothing!
After some time, with His finger, Jesus began writing in the dirt. Finally Jesus said, “He who is without sin, cast the first stone.”
Slowly, the ladies accusers left. Jesus then told her to “go and sin no more.”
All of us are sinners.. every one of us. Your sin may be different from my sin but, we are all sinners. So, we need to be careful and not throw stones at others. This world needs a lot more love and mercy from Christians and the church and a lot less judging.       Yes, there are some people who have made mistakes. Yes, someone may dress different or think differently from you. But, that person is still a child of God. That person still needs love. Jesus died so that person can be forgiven of their sins. Surely, we can love them.
The next time any of us are tempted to throw stones, we need to look in the mirror and realize that we aren’t perfect either. Let’s put the stones down and love one another.
