Confidence In The Lord

Have you ever told someone, “I’m confident you can do this?”
Or, has someone told you, “I have confidence in you?”
When you have confidence in something or someone, you trust them. You believe in them.
Psalms 108:1 says, “My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart!”
The writer of the Psalm had trusted the Lord for years and the Lord had always taken care of him. So, he could say, “My heart is confident in you, O God.”
What about us? What about you? Are we confident in the Lord? Do we trust Him?
Now, think about it before you answer… We say we trust God… but do we? Have you ever doubted if God would provide? Have we ever thought, maybe… “God I don’t get this but… I will try to trust you?”
Most of. us have. The disciples even said once, “Lord, we believe; help our unbelief.”
We should have confidence in the Lord… think about how often the Lord has come through for us. We should have confidence that the Lord will guide and provide. All of us can look back over our lives and see that God has taken care of us. We can have confidence in the Lord. There is an old poem called “Footprints In The Sand” that expresses this so well. It goes;

“One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”

We can trust the Lord.
