Have you ever experienced jealousy? Most of us at some point in our lives have experienced jealousy. Maybe we are jealous of someone’s home or the lifestyle they lead. When we are jealous of someone, we want what they have. When we want what someone else has, we aren’t content or satisfied with what we have.
We may have moments or periods of jealousy…I think that is human. But, it shouldn’t last. We should be content – satisfied – with what we have. That doesn’t mean we can’t strive for more but, at our core, we should be content with what God has given us.
Proverbs 14:30 says “a peaceful heart leads to a healthy body;jealousy is like cancer in the bones.”
Think about those words – jealousy is a cancer in the bones. Jealousy is a strong and at times, deadly emotion.
In order to deal with jealousy we first must be content with what God has given us. To be content means to be at peace with ourselves and God. We will not be able to control jealousy in our lives until, we are at peace with God.
Today, if jealousy is something you struggle with, ask the Lord to give you strength to deal with it.
