When we become Christians, our goal is to become like Jesus. This doesn’t happen overnight; it’s a daily process. We will continue to battle old habits in the form of the flesh. But, every day, we should strive to become more like Christ.
In John 3, John’s disciples learn that Jesus is baptizing and lots of people were going to Him. They were afraid Jesus was becoming more popular than John. So they went to John and discussed this with him. John wasn’t concerned at all. He said, “He must increase, but I must increase.”
That should be our goal every day – Jesus must increase and we must decrease. Every day we should strive to become more like Christ. Every day, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we should become more like Christ.
We should become more loving….more obedient….more forgiving….more compassionate….More like Christ.
Today, like John, May we say “He must increase and I must decrease.”
