It’s Sunday morning in a church. Someone drives up, gets out of the car and begins walking towards the building. As they do, someone that knows them spots them and says, “Well, the roof is going to cave in today! Joe is here! I remember when Joe did some wild stuff.”
Joes just ducks his head and smiles. He tries to ignore it but, it stings a little. Yes, Joe knows he’s messed up plenty but, he’s trying to make a new start.
Psalms 103 says, “He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”
That applies to all of us. God loves us…warts…flaws….mistakes and all. He removes our sins as far as the east is the west.
So don’t give Joe or Sally or Billy a hard time. We’ve all slipped. We’ve all messed up. But our sins or tossed away.
Corrie Ten Boom once said, “God throws our sins into the deepest part of the ocean and puts up a sign that says, “No fishing.”
Let’s go back to our friend Joe. Joe may have made some mistakes. Maybe he has done some things he’s not proud of. It won’t but, let’s imagine the roof may cave in because Joe is there. Well, someone needs to welcome Joe and tell him that if the roof caves in, we will build another roof. “Come on in Joe, we are glad to have you!”
He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west.
