Yes, People Can Change! Zacchaeus Is Proof Of That!

Can people change? That’s a question that we have all asked ourselves at times. Perhaps there is someone we know very well who has some things they need to change and they have said they’re going to change but nothing happens. And so you find yourself asking, “can people change?”

For that matter, maybe there are some things that we need to change. Maybe we’ve told our family and friends we’re going to change, but nothing happens. So, again, can people change?

Well, the answer to that is, “yes”, people can change.. And Zacchaeus is proof of that. You may be familiar with the story of Zaccheus. The Gospel of Luke tells us, Jesus went into the city of Jericho and there was a man who was very small. His name, was Zacchaeus. Because Zacchaeus was so small, he had to get up in a sycamore tree so that he could see the Lord over the crowds. The Bible says that Jesus made his way through the city, He saw Zacchaeus in the tree and told him to come down because he was going to his house. That got the religious folks stirring. Some of them asked, “does he not know that this man is a sinner?” Yet, Jesus went anyway. And the Bible says that as a result of Zacchaeus meeting the Lord, Zacchaeus was changed. And he promised to give to help the poor.

So yes, people can change. Zacchaeus is proof of that. But we can’t do it on our own. We have to have the power of the Holy Spirit.

So maybe you’ve just about given up on someone. Someone has told you repeatedly they’re going to change but it doesn’t happen. Don’t give up; Jesus is still changing people. And Zacheus is proof of that
