We Are ALL Sinners Saved By Grace

Last night, I watched the movie “There Will Be Blood.” It’s been out for years but I had never watched it. It’s about a ruthless silver miner, turned oil-prospector, Daniel Plainview, who moves to oil-rich California. He cons local landowners into selling him their valuable properties for a pittance. However, the local preacher,Eli Sunday, suspects his motives and a feud between the two men develops.
At one point, in order to convince one man to sell him the rights to his land, Plainview has to join the 3rd Revelation church. He goes to church and the preacher says “Do we have a sinner among us?” Of course, he is referring to Plainview. Eventually Plainview gets u and says he is a sinner and Eli cats the devil out of him.
Before I go any farther… I know it’s a movie… it’s not real… But, as I watched the scene where Plainview is taken to the front of the church and the preacher make s big-deal about him a “sinner,” I didn’t feel comfortable. Everyone in that church was a sinner… even the preacher.
Folks, we are all sinners saved by grace… everyone of us. Some of us may have messed up worse than others… it doesn’t matter in God’s eyes. We are ALL sinners.
There may be someone you know who has lived a wild-life… sowed some wild oats… etc… You may feel like they are a greater sinner than you. No, we are all sinners. We all need the grace of God.
No one person is any worse a sinner than anyone else. We all need grace.
Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
But, Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death but, the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
We are all sinners but we can all be forgiven because of the free gift of God.. which is eternal life.
Thank the Lord for His free gift of grace today.
