Asking for and granting forgiveness.

We all need it but we can struggle to grant it. We are prone to hold grudges…to not forgive or hang onto a hurt for years. But we ahould grant forgiveness.
In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter cane to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
Jesus replied, “Not seven times but seventy times seven.”
Don’t get hung up on the math..Jesus was simply saying we should go on forgiving. We are to continue forgiving.
I read an article last night about the impeachment trial of Bill Clinton. The day he was acquitted, he held a brief press conference in the Rose garden where he apologized for his actions. Then, as the press conference ended, he turned to walk away. As he did, a reporter asked, “Sir, can you forgive?”
Clinton paused briefly trying to decide if he should answer the question or not. Then he said, “I believe that if you ask for forgiveness, you also have to be able to forgive.” Great statement by former President Clinton!
Can you grant forgiveness? If you are going to ask for it, you must be able to grant it as well.
