Jehovah Jireh – The Lord Will Provide

The Christian life is a life of faith. We have faith in Jesus to save us if we ask him to. It takes faith to believe in Christ.

Once we believe, we live by faith. We are too give…even if our funds are low and, we believe that God honors our faith. One of the greatest stories of faith in the Bible is found in Genesis 22.

God had given Abraham a son whom he named Isaac. Like any Father would be, Abraham was proud of his son. But God called Abraham to take his son to Mt. Moriah and there he was to offer Isaac as a sacrifice.

This was a TOUGH challenge for Abraham. Like any of us, he didn’t want to give his son up. But he got Isaac and they began making the trip to Mt. Moriah.

Along the way, Isaac asked Abraham, where is the lamb for the offering? Abraham said to Isaac, “God will provide for Himself a lamb.”

So, they arrive at Mt. Moriah and Abraham begins preparing Isaac for the sacrifice. Abraham takes his knife and is just about to take Isaac’s life but at the last minute, God intervenes. God shows Abraham a ram that wS caught in a thicket and the Ram was the sacrifice. Abraham named the place, “Jehovah Jireh” meaning “the Lord will provide a sacrifice.”

There have been times in my life when Holli and I have had to pray, “Lord, please provide a lamb” and He does. Now there are times when we may have to do without some things – but God provides. He promises to provide the essentials. Maybe you are struggling to give. You are afraid you won’t have enough to pay the bills. God provides…again, you may have to do without some things…maybe you can’t go out to eat…maybe you can’t afford some new clothes…God didn’t promise us new clothes but He promised to provide.

Just as He did for Abraham, “God will provide for us a Ram.” We can trust the Lord….”Jehovah Jireh – the Lord will provide.”
