Slipping In Darkness And Experiencing Forgiveness

As Christians, our goal, our desire is to live the Christian life. We want to honor and bring glory to our Lord. We should want to live holy and pure lives. I John 1:6 says, “So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness….”

Think about that verse….if a person says they love the Lord but they continue to live in darkness they are lying. What does it mean to live in darkness? In the Bible, darkness is synonymous with sin. Darkness is gossip….it’s having a potty mouth…it’s drug use…it’s stealing…and I could go on. All those things and many more represent darkness. All of us slip and make mistakes. We all, at times are in darkness.

But there is another verse in this chapter. It is I John 1:9; “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

This is one of my favorite verses. It tells us that when we sin, if we will confess our sins…that means to admit them….Jesus is faithful to forgive them.

So when we slip into the darkness, If we admit those sins, we are forgiven. That applies to all of us.

So, today, if there is something in our lives that we have done that bothers us…we can be forgiven if we confess those sins.

I encourage you to join me as we do that and experience the grace if God.
