Man Is A Spiritual Being

Several months ago Holli, Sarah and I went to NYC to visit Will. He was there at that time doing a grand opening for Chik-Fil-A . We flew up on Saturday night, landed, got on a bus and then, took the subway. It was my first time riding the Subway.
As I looked around, I saw people from different nations and different walks of life. Everyone on that Subway was different but, we really weren’t. Although we had different nationalities we all had a few things in common. We were all spiritual and social beings.
In Genesis 2, the Bible gives us the story of the creation of man. The Bible says that God “breathed into man the breath of life.” That’s not but six words but they are very significant. When God breathed into man the breath of life, that set man apart from the rest of God’s creation; man is a spiritual being which means, man can talk to God.
This also means that man has a spiritual void that can only be filled with a relationship with Jesus. You may know someone who is very successful. On the outside, they have everything you could want. They are educated, have a nice home, nice vehicles, make good money, etc… But, if they have never trusted Christ as their Savior, they have a spiritual void and it can only be filled through God.
You may know someone who seems to have everything but, they don’t seem to be happy. It’s because there is a void in their life that can only be filled with Jesus.
Man is different from the remainder of God’s creation because God breathed into man the breath of life. We are spiritual beings and we will only be happy when the God who made us, runs us.
In the movie “Tombstone,” Doc Holloday and Wyatt Earp are talking about Johnny Ringo.
Wyatt asks; “What’s wrong with Ringo, Doc?”
Doc replies, “Johnny Ringo has a hole in his heart.”
Doc Holladay could have been talking about everyone when he said that. We all have a hole in our heart that can be filled with a spiritual relationship with Jesus.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6).
Let the Lord fill the spiritual void in your heart.
