Have you ever felt rejected by God? Have you ever prayed and prayed and you feel like God doesn’t care? It happens.
Well, the Psalmist felt the same.
He thought God had forsaken him.
In Psalm 77 the Psalmist says, “I cry out to God; yes, I shout. Oh, that God would listen to me! When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord… but my soul was not comforted.”
Then he added, “I think of God, and I moan….I am too distressed even to pray!”
Then he asks, “Has the Lord rejected me forever?” Have you ever felt that way? I confess, I have. Oh, I knew in the depths of my heart that God had not forsaken me but, it didn’t keep me from thinking that He had.
In verse 11, the Psalmist had reached bottom and he says, “This is my fate….”. It’s as if he has given up. He feels rejected. “But then..” he says “…I recall all you have done…”.
He says, “I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.”
Think about those words…”I remember your wonderful deeds…”. He thought God had rejected him but then, he remembered “all God had done for him.”
We need to do the same. When we begin to think God has forgotten us, we need to remember all God has done for us.
If you are down and think God doesn’t care…go back and remember how God has provided in the past and that will remind you that God does care.
God loves us. Yes, there are times when we do not understand God. There are times when heaven is silent that we can think God doesn’t care. But He does and as our minds go through the years of our past we see where God provides.
Babbie Mason has a song that goes;
“All things work for our good
Though sometimes we don’t see
How they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what’s best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just don’t see Him,
Remember you’re never alone
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His Heart.”
God has not forgotten you.
