Where did Satan come from?

Have you ever asked that? Isaiah 14 tells us.

In the beginning, Satan was an angel. But, Satan wasn’t satisfied being an angel; he wanted to be God. Isaiah says of Satan “How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth,

you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself,

‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars.

I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’”

Notice that Satan said, “I will ascend to heaven.” “I will preside on the mountains of the gods.”

Satan had an “I” problem. He wanted to be God. He rebelled against God and he was thrown out of heaven.

Mankind has the same problem as Satan; man wants to be God. When we do things our way instead of God’s way, we are rebelling against God. When we put ourselves before God, we are rebelling against God.

What about you? Are you following the Lord…doing things God’s way or, are you living life on your terms?

Satan will make us think we can do things our way. Just like he did with Adam and Eve in the garden, Satan will make us think we can do whatever we want. But, as Adam and Eve found out; it’s better to do things God’s way. When we don’t, we sin.

So, today; submit to God. God is on the throne of heaven and deserves to be praised. God loves us and wants to help us. God made us. God know what’s best for us.

John 10:10 says that Satan comes “to steal and kill and destroy…”.

Jesus said Satan is “….a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44).

When Satan tempts you, He is lying. He wants you to think you can’t enjoy life unless you are partying, drinking or doing drugs. He wants you to think you can’t be happy unless you buy something new. He wants you to think it’s ok to have an extra-marital fling. He wants you to think it’s ok to stretch the truth a little.

Satan is a liar and the father of lies!

Don’t rebel against God like Satan did. Follow the Lord and God will give us a meaningful life.
