Dealing With Discouragement

Have you ever been discouraged? If you are breathing you have. Everyone faces discouragement.

Maybe you made a mistake & you are discouraged. Maybe someone said something that hurt you and you are discouraged. Many money is low and you are discouraged.

In II Cor 1:7, the apostle Paul refers to someone in Corinth as being “…overcome with discouragement.” I’ve been there & likely you have as well.

So what do we do when we are discouraged? We pause and pray and ask the Lord for strength. We read Scripture and allow it to minister to us. We pray and ask God for strength. I think we also need to put things in perspective. Someone has said that things are never as bad as they seem or as good as they seem.

Billy Graham said regarding discouragement; “The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, ‘O God, forgive me,’ or ‘Help me.’

If you are battling discouragement know that God loves you and will sustain you. You may know someone battling discouragement – let the Lord use you to encourage them – to minister to them. Encourage someone today.
