Our lives are divided into a couple of areas; work, leisure, church, family & perhaps a few others. So, does that mean that each area is compartmentalized? Does it mean we are different people in each area? No, it doesn’t.
As Christians, our lives are not compartmentalized; we live for Christ in each area. Paul said in Romans 11:36, “For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.”
Notice Paul said, “…everything….is intended for his glory…”
So, everything we do is done for God’s glory….whether it’s sports, golf, hunting, work…everything is done for God’s glory.
At times, someone may justify being dishonest at work in order to make a living. Someone may say, “Hey, business is business…sometimes you have to push the envelope a little. That’s not true but sometimes we can justify it like that.
Someone could do this in sports – maybe a person has a tendency to lose it in sports.. and while competition at times may have the possibility of bringing out the worst in us…we should remember that we are Christians and should reflect Christianity in sports.
You may have seen players from two football teams praying together after a football game. Although those players competed against one another in a game and one side lost, they are Christians, and if you ask them they will tell you they play for God’s glory.
So, everything we do, we do for God’s glory. Live for Jesus in every aspect of your life.
