“May The Words Of My Mouth…”

Words and thoughts…
We speak lots of words and we do lots of things every day. Our day is pretty much summed up in what we say and do. If we have regrets at the end of the day it is likely because of a word we spoke or something we did. We may find ourselves thinking, “I really shouldn’t have said that…” Or, “I shouldn’t have done that.”
Well, Psalm 119:14 provides us with a great verse to guide us throughout the day. The Psalmist says, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”
Words…. our words should be acceptable to God. But how often do we say something that, we know is not acceptable to God. In the day of cable news, radio talk-shows and social media, LOTS of things are said that are not acceptable to God.
Meditations of our heart… this refers to the thoughts of our hearts… Lots and lots of thoughts may flow from our minds.. are they acceptable to God?
As we live our lives, our words and thoughts sum up who we are. We need to be careful with both. Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:29, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth… but only what is helpful for building others up.”
So today, let’s watch our mouths… let’s monitor our thoughts… our meditations… may they both be acceptable to God.
