We Are Heirs Of God

“I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks.”
Have you ever heard someone say that?
If a person says that, it means they have may have grown up poor or at least didn’t have some things that others have. If a person feels they grew up on “the wrong side of the tracks,” it can affect how they feel about themselves. They can lack confidence and not have good self-worth. I was talking with someone recently who said their Father was like that. This man was not well-educated and it affected how he viewed life.
Well, regardless of the side of the tracks you grew up, I can tell you that Jesus loves you. Paul said in Romans 8:17, “And since we are His children, we are heirs of God’s glory.”
Think about that… you and I are “heirs of God’s glory.” So, our background… our past… doesn’t matter. We are adopted as children of God.
Years ago, Holli and I attended a marriage conference in Jackson, MS. One of the speakers was a guy named Dennis Rainey. He and his wife had several children and they had adopted one. I met him on the elevator once and I asked, “which one of your children is adopted?”
He said, “I don’t know.”
At first… I admit… I didn’t get it… I thought, “You don’t know which child is adopted?” Then I realized… He knew… but to him, none of his children were adopted… He loved them all the same.
God loves us all the same as well. Our past does not matter. Our level of education does not matter… Our income level does not matter. God loves us… Jesus died for us… we are heirs of God.
Today, as you go about your day… know that God loved you enough… God valued you enough.. that His Son gave His life for you. We are heirs of God through Jesus.
