I Believe In God

Genesis 1:1 states “In the beginning God…” That verse does not debate the existence of God; it simply states that God exists. But, lots of people do not believe in the existence of God. Psalms 11:1 says, “The fool has said in his heart there is no God.” But why is that?

Some will say you can’t prove the existence of God therefore, they don’t believe in God. And, they are right. I’m not aware of any scientific formula that proves God exists.

Others may say, “If there is a god, why do people get cancer, etc…?” It’s because we live in a fallen world where bad things happen.

And still others may say, “I don’t believe in the existence of God because I’ve seen too many hypocritical Christians.” And they are right; there are lots of hypocritical Christians but, that doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist.

Someone else may say, “I just don’t believe all the stories in the Bible… I have questions about lots of things.” I have questions as well but I know enough to off-set the part I don’t know.

We believe in God by faith. We believe the Bible by faith. You cannot remove faith from Christianity.

By faith we believe the Bible.

By faith we believe in Jesus.

It’s all by faith.

If you are an atheist, I encourage you to set the doubt aside and believe in God. Recently, my daughter-in-law, Lauren Potts, gave birth to our second grand-son, Cooper James. Cooper was formed when a sperm from my son, Robert united with an egg from Cooper’s Mom. That sperm and egg joined to begin forming Cooper.

Cooper has ten fingers – he has ten toes – he has eyes – he has a heart – he has lungs – he has a brain – he has a circulatory system. All of that was formed by sperm and egg uniting. No scientist had any part of Cooper’s formation and yet he is formed and comes into this world.

Cooper is proof to me that there is a God.

Stop trying to convince yourself God doesn’t exist and believe in God.
