Controlling Your Temper

Have you ever lost your temper? I have….I’m not proud of it but it has happened. But God convicted me of it and With the Lord’s help, I’ve begun trying to get it under control.
Sometimes anger is justified. Jesus was angry when turned over the tables of the money-changers and ran them out of the temple (Matt. 21:12-13). A parent may get angry if their child is mistreated. That is justified.
Someone may get angry if someone lies to them or steals from them. But getting angry over every little thing that happens is not right or good.
Psalms 4:4 says, “Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain.”
Notice the text says don’t let anger “…control you.” We may occasionally get angry but, we shouldn’t let it control us. If you have a problem with anger, give it to the Lord. Think about what makes you angry and when in those situations, ask the Lord for help.
Paul said that one of the fruits of the spirit is “patience.” So, if we are filled with the spirit instead of getting angry, we will exercise patience.
Today, if you have a temper, ask the Lord for help and He will help us. Don’t let your temper control you.
