Who are you?
No, seriously; WHO are you?
I’m not referring to your name. I mean, what’s your identity? What gives you meaning?
This is another issue the Lord has convicted me of and matured me in the last three years. I’ve been a Pastor all my adult life. So, everywhere I went, I as “Bro. Gregg” or “Dr. Potts” or “Preacher.” That became my identity.
But for the last three years, while I’m still ordained and called as a Pastor, I was no longer representing a church. So now, I’m just Gregg Potts and that has bothered me for a while. It’s been something I’ve had to grow through.
But the Lord has helped me see that my identity… my well-being… is not wrapped up in a title… way before I was “Bro. Gregg” or “Dr. Potts,” I was “Gregg Potts,” a child of the King.
Romans 8:17 says, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
Notice that Paul says, “… if we are children,… we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.” Friend, that means that we are children of the King!
We all have a great legacy as Christians!
So, the Lord has helped me see that my identity… my well-being… is not wrapped up in my title.
My identity isn’t wrapped up in preaching or performing weddings or anything else. My identity is based solely on my relationship with Christ. I’m a child of the King!
And it’s the same with you. Before you are a teacher or a banker or an attorney or a construction worker or the owner of a company or an elected official or a stockholder or an electrician or a truck-driver or a coach or a doctor or a nurse or a lunch-room worker or a custodian, you are a child of the King!
Today, your identity is in Christ! You are a child of the King… co-heirs with Christ! You have a GREAT legacy!
