We make decisions every day. Some are routine, every-day type of decisions while others are more serious. At times, we can struggle with decisions because we know how significant they are. How do we make good decisions? We need wisdom from the Lord.
In I Kings 3, Solomon had just become King of Israel. He went to Gibeon to worship. While there, the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream and instructed Solomon to ask for whatever he wanted and God would grant it. Ok, Solomon is a young guy. Just think of all the things he could have asked for. But the Bible says Solomon asked for wisdom to lead Israel.
Solomon prayed, “Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?” (I Kings 3:9)
Solomon prayed, “Give me an understanding heart…” That should be our prayer as well; “Lord, give us wisdom.”
Today, maybe you are facing some pretty significant decisions. You have thought and thought and thought about which way to go. Like Solomon, we can ask the Lord for wisdom and He will grant it.
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
The Lord wants to give us wisdom. Ask Him today.
