Light Is More Powerful Than Darkness

In the Bible, darkness is synonymous with evil and sin. We live in a world of darkness… a world of sin.. If we are not living for the Lord, we are living in darkness.
In Luke 22, Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane praying. He knew the time was approaching when Judas would betray Him. Then, the Roman soldiers came. One of his disciples took his sword and cut the ear off a slave. Seeing this, Jesus told them to stop and then said to the Roman soldiers “But this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns.”
Think about those words… “this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns.” The power of darkness reigned at that time because Jesus Christ, the Son of God was being arrested. At that moment, the power of darkness was real and strong. At that moment, darkness won.
And darkness would win for about two days.
Darkness won when Jesus received a fake trial.
Darkness won when Barrabas was freed and Jesus was sentenced to crucifixion.
Darkness won when Jesus was scourged.
Darkness won when Jesus was crucified.
It seemed that darkness was going to prevail when Jesus body was taken down from the cross and placed in the borrowed tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.
But, Sunday morning, when Jesus rose from the grave, darkness was set aside and God won.
It may be that darkness has been winning a lot in your life. Maybe you are fighting an addiction. Maybe your marriage is struggling or, you are having trouble with one of your children. And, the list could go on.
Just know this; while darkness may win a few battles, Jesus will win the war.
Now, how do we deal with darkness? We lean on the Lord for strength.
I John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Satan is powerful… darkness is powerful… but God is more powerful. It may be that the darkness is real in your life right now. I encourage you to hang on to the Lord. God will help you defeat the darkness.
