“If Only One Person Would Show Some Pity”

Your lonesome… your down… depressed.. discouraged… You can’t seem to gather enough strength to get up and get going. Then, you ask, “Does anyone care?”
The phone is not ringing… which leads you to believe no one cares.
That is a sad place to be. And, some of us have been there.
When you get out, you see people who ask you, “How are you doing?” You think to yourself, “Do you really want to know how I’m doing?” And, honestly, some may not want to know..
The Psalmist was in this position. In Psalm 69:20-21 the Psalmist prayed said, ” If only one person would show some pity; if only one would turn and comfort me. But instead, they give me poison for food; they offer me sour wine for my thirst.”
Think about that verse… “if only one person . would show some pity… if only one would turn and comfort me.” The Psalmist is hurting. He desperately needs someone to care. He says, “If only one…”
Just one… that’s all the Psalmist wanted… just one person to act like they cared. He wasn’t asking for one-hundred or fifty or twenty-five or even ten… he’s just asking for one.”
Psalms 142:4 says, “Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me… No one cares for my soul.”
We live in a cold world… Everyone is busy… Always on the go… And at times, it may seem like no one cares. But, the Lord does.
I can assure everyone reading this, if you ever think no one cares, Jesus does. And, there are people who care… but when we are down, the devil can make us think one one does.
A motivational speaker I enjoy listening to said once, “You may think no one cares… and it may be that there aren’t many who do… that’s just reality… but, YOU have to care…” We have to care enough about ourselves to press forward.
If you have ever felt no one cares… well… the Psalmist knows how you feel… because he said, “If only one person would show some pity…”
Now, the flip side of this is, we need to care. There may be someone who is hurting and they are praying that God would show them that someone cares. God may be speaking to you to call someone or visit someone.
God cares… and…there are people who care about us… they may not show it like they should but, they care. So, gather enough strength… get up… get a shower… and go knowing that if you were the only person on this earth, Jesus would have still died for you. Because, He cares.
