They can be good friends but they can also be the source of frustration and disappointment. There is an old quote… I’m not sure who the source of it is.. but it is from a woman who says of men, “You can’t live with ’em and you can’t live without them.” It’s kind of like that with people… sometimes you can’t live with ’em and you can’t live without them.
People will unfortunately, let you down. Our Lord experienced that. Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, one of this twelve disciples and, Simon Peter, one of those in His inner circle, said he didn’t know Him. So, at His point of greatest need, not one of Jesus disciples stood with Him.
Hopefully you have not experienced that. Hopefully you have never had a time when no one stands with you but if you have, you aren’t alone. Jesus faced the same.
So, what do you do when this kind of thing happens? There is nothing you can do… except turn to the Lord who never lets us down.
My Dad had a saying… I don’t know how many times I heard him say this… “People are people.” In other words; people are flawed. They are human. They will make mistakes. They will let us down. But, Jesus never does. He’s always there. Make sure, your faith and hope is in Jesus Christ! He is the only person who will never let us down.
