Another transparent post…
Over three years, I have periodically bared my soul in these posts. It makes me nervous to do it because Christians can, at times, be judgmental. Most people have had thoughts like I’ve had but they haven’t written about them publicly like I have. But, the Lord seems to use these transparent posts.
Over three years, my approach… my prayer has been, “Lord, I hope you provided.” Focus on the words, “I hope..” “I hope” meant that I wasn’t quite sure.
I believe in God… I believe God is able to do “exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think…” But, even though I believe in God, I wasn’t quite SURE about some things. So, I would hedge my bet ( I don’t bet folks… it’s just a figure of speech) a little and says, “I HOPE God provides.”
But recently, God convicted me of that. I need to move from “I HOPE God provides to, “I KNOW God will provide.”
“I KNOW God will provide” means “I trust God.” I don’t know how He will provide and, it may involve doing without some things but, somehow, some way, God will provide.
An example… last Friday, I had a car break down. Since then, I’ve been driving an old Blazer. There are more lights on the dash of that blazer than there is on a Christmas tree. But, it runs.
Last night, as I was driving to work, I admit, I was a little embarrassed. “I’m driving THIS old thing to work.” But then, God reminded me, “It runs… it gets you from point A to point B and this is the purpose of a vehicle.”
The Psalmist said, “I would have despaired if I did not believe that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Ps. 27:13).
In that verse, David simply puts his faith in the Lord. Essentially he says, “I would have lost hope a long time ago if I didn’t believe the Lord is in control.”
Now, what does it mean to believe that God is going to take care of things?
Does it mean a new car or truck? No.
Does it mean a new house? No… It may even mean downsizing… moving out of your current house… But, you still have a warm or cool place to live and a rough over your head if you do that.
Does it mean a promotion? No… it could even mean a demotion… but you somehow manage.
Does it mean the church doesn’t ask you to resign? No… You may still be asked to resign but the Lord provides for you even if that happens.
I do not know what the future holds… I don’t know what tomorrow will bring… neither do you.. but I know God IS still on the throne and He will work it all out.
“I would have despaired, if I did not believe that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
