On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand

What do you find security in? Maybe another way of saying this is, “where is your hope?”
For lots of people, their hope is in their bank account. They have a decent nest-egg set aside so that if tough times come, they have some money in reserve. They feel fairly secure.
For others, it may be a network of friends. They feel like they know enough people that, if they needed something, they feel like they could make a phone-call or two and solve the problem.
But what happens if you don’t have a financial nest-egg set aside? What happens if you call all your friends and everyone has said ,”I’m sorry but I can’t help?”
Psalms 20:7 says, “Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.”
There were pagan nations that had large armies. Those nations trusted in their armies. They thought military strength would solve any problem. But the Psalmist said, “While other nations focus on their military strength, we focus… we boast… in the name of the Lord our God.”
So, where is your security this morning? There is nothing wrong with a financial nest-egg if you have one… but money does run out. Our ultimate hope is in the Lord. God is always on the throne regardless what is going on in our lives.
The old hymn puts it well;
“Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus name.
On Christ the sold rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.”
