Turn Away From Evil Living

Have you ever seen someone that maybe, you went to school with or you knew them growing up? You hadn’t seen them in years… You are shocked at how they look. They look bad… like they are sick… You ask someone, “What happened to so & so? Man they look bad.”
You are told, “Well, you know, they used to drink a lot and do drugs. It took a toll on their body.”
That happens. I’ve seen it in some people. Drug and alcohol abuse takes it’s toll on a body. It is far better for an individual to stay away from the drugs and alcohol.
In Proverbs 3:7 the text says, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your soul.”
Think about the verse… “Do not be wise in your own eyes..” In others, don’t be proud or arrogant.
“Fear the Lord and turn away from evil…” We are to live with reverence for God and, we are advised to stay away from evil. And, if we do these things, it will bring healing to our bodies and refreshment to our soul.
Don’t live an evil life. It DOES NOT pay. Turn away from evil and live for God.
Mickey Mantle was a great player for the New York Yankees. But Mantle had a problem with alcohol and it took it’s toll on his body. When Mantle lay dying he said, “…Don’t be like me. God gave me the ability to play baseball and that’s what I wanted to do. God gave me everything and I just wasted it” He continued, “All you got to do is look at me to see it’s wasted. I want to get across to the kids not to drink or do drugs, everything. I think the moms and dads should be the role models”
Take it from one who knew… evil living… wild living… does not pay. Turn away from it and it will bring healing to your body and refreshment to your soul.”
