Make Reading The Bible A Priority In 2019

Happy New Year!
I love January 1st because it gives us the opportunity for a new start. There are three-hundred-and-sixty-five days ahead of us. We have the opportunity for a new beginning.
Everyone wants the new year to be a good year. So, what do we need to do to make it a good year?
Psalm 1 gives us direction. The Psalmist says, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners nor sit in the seat of scoffers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord. And in His law he meditates day and night…”
Notice a few things we are to do;
“Do not walk in the counsel of the wicked…” This means we need to be careful who we listen to for advice. It means we need to be careful who we are friends with.
“Nor stand in the path of sinners…” Again, we are reminded to be careful who we are friends with.
“Nor sit in the seat of scoffers…”
So, the key to happiness is found in reading God’s word and meditating on it. Now, you may say, “But I just don’t have the time… I have a long commute to work and I don’t have time..”
Listen to the Bible on your mobile device. Turn off the TV and read God’s word. Limit the amount of time you spend on the internet and invest your time in God’s word.
In 2019, let one of your top goals be reading God’s word. And then, live by the principles of God’s word. You won’t regret it.
The poet expressed it well;
“Though the cover is worn,
And the pages are torn,
And though places bear traces of tears,
Yet more precious than gold
Is this Book worn and old,
That can shatter and scatter my fears.”
