Look Back Then Move Forward

It’s December 31, 2018.
The last day of the year.
Most of us will reflect some today. It’s kind of natural to do so. It may even be a bit helpful to look back.. just don’t continue to look back.
Look back… remember the mistakes we made but don’t dwell on them. Everyone makes mistakes. We are human so we will slip. We will fail. But, failure doesn’t have to be final. Learn from your mistakes…
The Romans named January for Janus, the Roman god of portals. He was depicted as a two-faced, one-headed being who could look forward and backward at the same time.
So, today, we look backward and forward. Backward to learn from our mistakes…       Backward to celebrate the good things that happened in 2018… But then, forward as we look ahead into a brand new year.
The apostle Paul said, “Forgetting what lies behind… we press on…” So, look at the past… learn from it… then move forward.
Nick Vujick said, “Don’t put your life on hold so that you can dwell on the unfairness of past hurts.”
So, learn from the past but don’t stay there.
Move forward.
You have a brand new year ahead of us. Don’t waste it by dwelling on the past.
