Christmas Is About Love And Hope

It’s Christmas Eve.
This Christmas season, the Lord has led me to think about Christmas… the real meaning of Christmas. What is Christmas all about?
Christmas has become a massive time of commercialism… people are buying gifts and attending parties, etc…
I am definitely not a scrooge or grinch but, Christmas isn’t about the gifts and the partying.
Christmas as we know it actually started around the time of the publication of the poem, “Twas the night before Christmas.” The poem was written by Clement Moore around 1823. The poem had a massive impact on the history of gift-giving at Christmas.
But set the gift-giving aside… set the gatherings aside… at Christmas, we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, Savior of the world.
Jesus gives the hope of salvation to the world.
In Jesus, we know that God cares about us because God put on human flesh… He came to be with us. In Christmas, we are reminded that God loves us.
So today… and tomorrow… and throughout this week, be reminded that Christmas is about love and hope.
Hope that whatever we are going through God will give us strength.
Love to share with others. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son… As we love, we give. Maybe not a beautifully-wrapped package… but we give the gift of time… talking with a friend… we give the gift of encouragement… a card… a text message.. a call.. a visit.
Christmas demonstrates that God loves us and cares for us.
Happy birthday Jesus, the Savior of the world!
