A Mark Of A Christian – Humility

How do you know someone is a Christian? How can you tell?
Some would say, “Well, a Christian goes to church.”
And that is correct.
Someone else might say, “A Christian reads the Bible.”
And that is correct as well.
And you could go on listing traits of a Christian. But there is a trait that is often overlooked. It is humility. A Christian is marked by humility.
In the Sermon-on-the-mount, Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” The “meek” is a reference to humility.
Proverbs 22:4 says, “The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord is riches, honor and life.” Think about that verse…
When one is humble, it leads to riches. The text is not referring to material riches.. ie… money, land, etc… It’s referring to spiritual riches. Humility leads to honor and life.
When a person is humble, it makes them teachable. When a person is humble, they realize they need help. When a person is humble, they will admit they made a mistake.
On other hand, the person filled with pride is literally full of themselves. They believe the world needs to hear from them. I have had the opportunity to know some great Pastors and everyone of them were marked by humility. I have also observed that Christians who have a stronger walk with the Lord, are more humble.
So, how do you known someone is a Christian? They will definitely be known for humility. We should be as well.
