God Heals A Crushed Spirit

Have you ever had your spirit crushed? Have you ever received a letter in the mail telling you that you didn’t get the job you were hoping to get? Or, someone calls you and says they are going to have to back out on some plans?
Lots of things can crush our spirit… maybe our kids disappoint us or a friend disappoints us. Or, maybe we go through a divorce… or lose a loved one to death…
Proverbs 18:14 says, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity, but a wounded spirit who can bear?’
“A wounded spirit..” Most, if not all of us, have been there When your spirit is wounded, you can think there is no hope. When your spirit is wounded, you can think no one cares. When your spirit is wounded, you are down and when you are down, it can be tough to get up.
I’m not going to sugarcoat this…. life can be tough… people will let you down… and when you are down, you may think no one cares… but Jesus does.
Someone may say, “Yes, I know does… but I want a person to care.” I hear you.. and more than likely there is a person who cares… but let’s say there isn’t. I’m not trying to be depressing here… I’m just dealing with reality. While, I would think this would be a rare occurrence.. let’s say there is no one around… no person to care… WE have to care.
We ask the Lord for strength… we slowly get up… we brush ourselves off and we put one foot in front of the other. We may move slowly… but we move… even if it’s just a little movement… we move..
God loves us. And when our spirit is crushed, God wants to give us hope.
Psalm 121 says, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come. My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”
The Lord is our help and helps us with a crushed spirit.
