The Lord Is Our Strong Tower

All of us face fear at times. And, each one of us are afraid of different things. We all face it. How do we deal with our fears?
Proverbs 18:10 says, “the name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to Him and are safe.”
The idea here is a fortress or strong tower in Bible days. If someone saw the enemy approaching, they would run to a fortress… a strong tower… for security. This text is saying that the name of the Lord is a strong tower.
Ok… how does that work? We can envision how a person would be safe in a literal tower or fortress. In a tower or fortress they are surrounded by strong brick that had been built to protect someone. Their is a literal fortress surrounding them to protect them from the enemy.
This text says, “the name of the Lord is a strong tower.” The name of the Lord becomes the fortress that surrounds us. When we are afraid, although we may not be surrounded by a literal fortress, we pray and ask the sovereign God of the universe to protect us. And, God protects us. How does this happen?
It’s a battle that takes place in the spiritual world. God uses His angels… His messengers to protect us. We can’t see them… but God uses them to protect us.
The apostle Paul said in Ephesians 6:10-12, “Finally my brethren be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might; Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil… For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers..against the rulers of the darkness of the world.”
So, are you dealing with fear? We can run to the Lord who is our fortress. He is our strong tower. MountZionNorth1
