Is There Someone You Need To Talk To?

Is there someone you need to see to ask forgiveness or to grant forgiveness? You need to do it, before it’s too late.
In the book of II Samuel, there is a story about one of David’s sons, Amnon, raping his daughter, Tamar. Another of David’s sons, Absalom found out about it and took Amnon’s life. After taking his brother’s life, Absalom fled and lived with Talmai, the son of Ammihud, who was the king of Geshur.
And here is the sad part.. “David mourned for his every day…” But Absalom remained there for three years.
Some time later, Absalom returns to Jerusalem… but he still didn’t see the king. The Bible says, “Now Absalom lived two full years in Jerusalem, and did not see the king’s face” (II Sam. 14:28).
Think about that… David’s son lived in the same city that he did and Didn’t didn’t see him for two full years. How sad.
Is there someone you are estranged from? Someone you have some bitterness with? A relative you don’t get along with? A friend you haven’t seen in some time?
Friend, don’t let pride keep you from doing what’s right. You will regret it if you do.
In II Samuel 18, Absalom dies. The Bible says David was “deeply moved..” David went up to the chamber over the gate and cried out, “O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you.” David deeply regretted the years of bitterness between him and his son.
For two full years, they lived in the same city…but they never got together. How sad. Let’s not make the same mistake.
